THE WORLD CUP CARD GAME 2010 IS THE WINNER OF THE BEST CARD GAME CATEGORY AT UK GAMES EXPO 2010

The WCCG is based on The World Cup Game using a similar system for deciding the matches but with a shorter playing time.
The WCCG has 64 cards divided into 32 Team cards and 32 Action cards. Each group match is played individually but this
takes seconds to resolve, then the KO stages are played in a similar way to the Board Game. A few sample cards are pictured here..

TO SEE A SAMPLE GAME, I HAVE CREATED A DETAILED DESCRIPTION IN 3 PARTS. DON'T BE ALARMED BY THE LENGTH OF THE DESCRIPTION, IT COVERS EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME BUT THE WHOLE GAME ITSELF CAN BE PLAYED IN AROUND 75 MINUTES. MINOR RULES CLARIFICATION: In the Semi-Finals and Final it is better to play through to the end of the draw deck and no further i.e. once the last card has been taken from the draw deck the round ends and each remaining player will have 3 Action cards still in their hand. You then have a choice of allowing the players to keep those three cards in their hand for the 3rd Place/Final or throw them into the discards and start with a new hand for the 3rd PLace/Final round. The former gives some strategic options of trying to get your teams through to the Final and keeping good cards for that Final game. OPTIONAL RULE: If you have two packs of TWCCG you can combine the Action cards from both decks to create a larger deck and a more random allocation of cards. It also gives you a larger draw deck in the group stages and a draw deck in the KO stages as you would, of course, only use half the deck in each of the Round of 16 and Qauerter-Finals.
